First Flight Celebration
Day One
December 12, 2003
The celebration started on December 12, 2003, with bright clear weather, perfect for air shows.
Patty Wagstaff wowed the crowds with low flying manuevers.
Michelle Branch arrives by Blackhawk helo.
AOPA Waco which will belong to one lucky pilot by the end of the event, by special drawing.
The  uplink with the International Space station. Kids got to ask the cosmonauts questions and get live answers.
The 1911 Wright flyer, complete with upright seating for one, and landing gear!

THE reproduction of the original Wright flyer, which will be used on December 17th for the recreation of the First Flight.

Here is a simulator which allows you to experience flying the Wright flyer, complete with controls similar to the original.
On the field there were many planes on display.
Mike Mancuso thrills the crowds in an air show. The real plane is above, the Jumbotron shows the closeup. Yes, it's upside down.
Coast Guard equipment displays.
It's a good thing this replica is made of solid bronze and steel to be so kid proof!  Too bad the real one is not so tough!
