A sign of the times on Eagle Pass road, Hatteras village.
Another home, oceanfront in the vicinity of the destroyed motels, whose ground floor was washed out by the storm surge.
An oceanfront pool who was the victim of Isabel's storm surge.
Another victim of the rolling storm surge was this vehicle which ended up against this house and pool. One lot back from the oceanfront near the motels.
Tattered and torn motel which originally was located on the oceanfront, but was washed completely across highway 12, coming to rest against this building.
One of the businesses located on the northwest side of Hwy 12 washed through by the storm surge.
The Cabanas which separated from their foundations, were originally located oceanfront, but these were floated by the storm surge to the northwest side of Highway 12, coming to rest against the Pelican's Roost building.
This home is located on the soundside area where the storm surge beat its way through the island and exited to the sound. It took with it the road in this area, and some homes swallowed by sinkholes created by water undermining the foundations. Notice the small jeep inside the garage. Its floor was undermined by flood waters. Same home below from a wider view.
This home is located one lot behind the Taste Buds restaurant which was completely washed away into the sound. The storm surge took all the ground level floor from this building.
November 23, 2003. On a brighter note, the peaceful Atlantic Ocean is very calm and beautiful on this fall day, near the time of sunset.

Another shot of the motel washed through by the storm surge.
The Pelican's Roost business located on the northwest side of highway 12, washed through by the storm surge.
Another home a victim of the undermining power of the storm surge as it seeks to escape on the backside of the island.
This is all that's left of the Taste Buds restaurant property. The building now resides in the sound northwest of the island.
