First Flight celebration page
We had a bit of excitement today when Air Margaritaville flew into town loaded down with relief supplies for Hatteras Island. Here she is at the Manteo airport.
The sign says it all.
This cottage on the oceanfront washed off its pilings undermined by oceanwater in Rodanthe.
Motel south of the Tiki Grill in Rodanthe. There was almost an inlet cut thru here. Note the parking lot caving in. Ocean water washed completely across from ocean to sound undercutting the parking lot. Photo below also of same area.
Mute testimony to the power of the mighty ocean. There is a long story that is attached to the destruction of this vehicle.
More of the road getting into Rodanthe.
The road into Rodanthe. These driveways are inaccessible at the moment.
Here is Air Margaritaville on her way to Hatteras to take relief supplies, as viewed from Salvo.  They flew into Norfolk, rented a car, went to the Sam's club, loaded up on "stuff" and flew down here.
A Hummer was needed to access this house in Rodanthe.

This cottage (in middle) did not survive the pounding wrath of the ocean.
